Want to know how to identify Diablo 2 items? You'll find many items as you explore the world of sanctuaries, but you'll soon find that most of the equipment you've found is unidentified. This means you can't equip it right away.

The first time you dive into Diablo 2 or play the original, there's a lot to get used to. The footage has undergone a major overhaul, but most systems remain intact, which makes it feel very different from many modern games. Fortunately, there is a Diablo 2 class guide to help you get started on the right path.

In the meantime, you can identify Diablo 2 items both first and later when you find Deckard Kane.

How to identify items with scrolls in Diablo 2

This system is similar to how Diablo 3's legendary items work, but instead of right-clicking or using the Book of Cain to identify them, Diablo 2 is a basic device, at least at the start of the game. You need to scroll or identify to access.

If you have an identification scroll, right-clicking on it will change the cursor from the default hand to a question mark. Click on the item you want to identify and finish, even if the role is consumed in the process. You can now equip items as long as you meet the level and static requirements.

You can identify scrolls that randomly fall from your enemies, or buy them for 80 gold from sellers like Akara in Camp Rogue. Each scroll occupies one inventory space, so the Tome of Identification store purchases up to 20 ID cards and occupies only two inventory spaces.

How to identify items for free with Deccard Cane

After completing the first act mission, Find Cain, I will report to Deckard Cain in the Rebel Camp. Now you can talk to him and make all unidentified items in his inventory available. And the good news is that it's free.

Unlocking Deccard Cane may seem to discontinue use of your ID, but unless you have an infinite amount of scrolls from the city portal, unidentified items will remain while you're away from home.

This is often a good thing, but it's useful to have an identification booklet with you so that you can quickly identify individual items. A memory of Sarah's early games is playing Jet Set Willy on ZX Spectrum at a friend's house. Today, and if he doesn't write a guide, he also likes JRPGs, but most of his free time is spent on MMOs.

He has played a major role in Star Wars: The Old Republic, TERA, FINAL FANTASY 14, and World of Warcraft for the past decade. Sarah has been writing about games for several years, and before joining PC Gamer, she worked as a freelancer for companies such as TechRadar, GamingBible, and Rock Paper Shotgun.

One of his greatest hopes is to one day play the finale of FINAL FANTASY X without breaking a lot of sobbing. He probably has more wolves in Walheim than you do.
